Dr. Sanchez-Azofeifa is a Full Professor at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Alberta. Dr Sanchez-Azofeifa also serves as the director of the Alberta Center for Earth Observation Sciences (CEOS), and as Associate Dean of International and Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Science. He is also the director and funding member of TROPI-DRY, a Research Network in the Americas formed to study the ecological, biophysical and human dimensions of tropical dry forests in the neotropics. He has published more than 120 publications in peer review journals on issues associated to conservation and remote sensing in tropical environments. He is also the author of two edited books. In 2008, he entered the top 1% citations in the world for the field of Environment & Ecology in Essential Science IndicatorsSM from Thomson Reuters. In 2010, the Alberta’s Astech Foundation honored him for his outstanding achievement in environmental technology and Innovation.
