Dr. Durán is an ecologist from Colombia. She is working towards understanding how tropical forests are affected by global change. Her PhD research focused on the biotic and abiotic drivers of aboveground carbon storage in old-growth and second-growth tropical forests. She is currently working as a seasonal instructor at the University of Alberta, Canada. She is a member of the tropi-dry network, and currently she is participating in a regional effort to determine the recovery of ecosystem processes in Neotropical secondary forests
