Harmonizing climate, environment and health data: an introduction to the HARMONIZE 4health toolkit

17–20 November 2025 | Fiocruz, Rio de Janeiro

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is pleased to announce the upcoming HARMONIZE 4health Toolkit Training, a four-day, hands-on course designed to equip participants with tools for integrating climate, environmental, and health datasets. By the end of the course, participants will have harmonised multi-source data into one analysis-ready dataset.

Hosted by FIOCRUZ in Rio de Janeiro from 17 to 20 November 2025, the training will be delivered in English and is supported by full scholarships covering travel, accommodation, and meals. This initiative is made possible through the collaboration of HARMONIZE, Barcelona Super Computing Center (BSC), FIOCRUZ, Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE), Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Universidad de los Andes, Instituto Dominicano de Meteorología (INDOMET), IAI, and Wellcome.

Eligibility:

The course welcomes applicants from academia (Master’s and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers), public institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and other relevant professional sectors. Candidates from across Latin America and the Caribbean are encouraged to apply, especially those with knowledge of national datasets and the potential to apply the tools in their work.

Applicants should have a basic knowledge of R, as the course involves hands-on coding. Priority will be given to those bringing their own datasets to explore and analyse using the 4health tools. Participants will have to bring their own laptops; a list of software requirements will be circulated closer to the course date.
