New AI Executive Director

 

Dr. Anna Stewart- Ibarra begins her tenure as the new lAI Executive Director

 

The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Anna Stewart-Ibarra begins today her tenure as the new Executive Director.

 

Dr. Stewart-Ibarra is an expert on transdisciplinary science focused on the nexus of climate, environment, and health in the Americas. For more than 15 years, she has collaborated with academic. community, and government partners to support the development of climate adaptation strategies for health sectors.

 

Over the last four years, Dr. Stewart-Ibarra has led the lAl's scientific programs as the Institute's Science Director. She has been instrumental in positioning the lAl and

partner organizations at the science-policy interface to address the challenges of global change in the Americas.

 

Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Dr. Stewart-Ibarra holds a Ph.D. in ecology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and a Master in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.
