Embedding science and technology in international relations education and diplomatic training

IAI focal points from Panama, Ing. Milagro Mainieri y Guatemala, Aldo Lopez, and IAI Directorate staff will participate in the AAAS Annual Meeting; session on Embedding Science and Technology in International Relations Education and Diplomatic Training on 16 Feb. 2019, in Washington DC.

This event will gather professionals from foreign ministries, diplomatic academies and multilateral organizations to discuss approaches to incorporating science in diplomatic training.

This discussion builds up on the IAI-AAAS-SENASCYT Panamá; workshop on Science Diplomacy held in Panama City in October 2018, which fostered the establishment of a community of government agencies, foreign ministries and academia professionals to develop strategies to strengthen collaboration in science diplomacy in Central America.

The AAAS Annual Meeting session Embedding science and technology in international relations education and diplomatic training will:

1) highlight model approaches for science diplomacy education at undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.

2) share experiences and best practices with key stakeholders and communities of research and training.

3) introduce curricula, resources, case studies and other materials and present upcoming education and training opportunities in science diplomacy.
